BOLZANO SHORTFILMFESTIVAL
- BEST ANIMATION AWARD € 500
MONSIEUR COK by Franck Dion
For the refined graphic execution that allowed to highlight the gloomy atmosphere of an authoritarian and mechanical world, and for the sophisticated animation that, without falling off to decorative mannerisms, typical of 3D, turns out to be effective and expressive.
- YOUTH JURY AWARD € 300
EL EMPLEO by Santiago 'Bou' Grasso
It is an animation that stands out for its naturalness.
The atmosphere that the film is able to create, thanks to the chromatic choices and to an almost minimalist sound performance, is reflected in the impersonality common to all characters, who are consenting pawns in the game of solitary resignation without conditions. The individual identity of each character is levelled out – exactly as a figure that has been drawn without any depth – on his/her own role inside the machine-society, coinciding eventually with the service that he/she offers, without losers or winners. The technical performance is flawless and the rhythm is functional and organic to the course of the story.
“El Empleo” encountered favour for its simplicity and lucidity, at the same time ironic and bitter, with which it is able to suggest a critical look on our present.
